Gerhard Ertl wins the Nobel prize [ 10-10-2007 ]
German scientist Gerhard Ertl, professor emeritus at the Fritz-Haber Institute in Berlin, wins the Nobel prize for chemistry for outstanding work explaining rust, the ozone layer and how to keep clean car exhausts. His work laid the foundations for an entire field of modern research known as surface chemistry, which describes how individual atoms and molecules behave when they come into contact with pure surfaces. Gas experiments at the FHI were carried out using Bronkhorst High-Tech Mass Flow Controllers. The enclosed pictures show Dr. Ertl with a test bench where our MFC's can be distinguished.
