The story
“My name is Mikay, and I am working as an ICT BBL student at Bronkhorst. I joined the company through my studies, and from day one it has felt like a place where I can grow. Bronkhorst actively invests in the BBL program, and you can really notice that I am given the opportunity to explore, learn, and challenge myself. As a first-line ICT support specialist, I deal with a wide variety of technical issues, from printer problems and laptop malfunctions to software-related questions. Everything passes through our department. What I learn at school can be directly applied in practice here, which works perfectly for me. Learning by doing allows me to grow faster and gain deeper understanding. My supervisor, Gerald, provides a great balance between independence and support. Sometimes I am pushed out of my comfort zone, but always with guidance when needed. This keeps me motivated and sharp. Because of the dynamic work environment, I have also learned to plan better and set priorities, something I previously found challenging. Now it gives me structure and clarity in my work."
Learning in an international and dynamic environment
"What makes my job extra special is the international aspect. I support colleagues from across the entire organization, even worldwide. For example, I once helped resolve an IT issue in China. Experiences like that not only improve my technical skills but also strengthen my communication abilities.
The 'company-wide' tickets are my favorite to work on. They give me insight into how different teams collaborate and highlight how important the ICT department is to the entire organization.
My passion for IT started at a young age, when I began working on computers myself. Now I get to use that passion to improve processes and make work easier for others. The appreciation I receive for this motivates me every day.
I have already completed my Level 3 training (Allround IT) and am currently pursuing my Expert IT qualification. After finishing my BBL program, I hope to continue developing myself within Bronkhorst. The colleagues make the work enjoyable, the tasks are challenging, and the organization offers plenty of opportunities for growth.”
