“Bronkhorst gives you opportunities and the space to grow. In my role, I contribute to that every day.”

The story

“I joined Bronkhorst in 1999, initially working in Marketing. At that time, I had no idea I would eventually build a career in Learning & Development. Over the years, I gradually discovered where my real passion lies: helping people learn and grow. After about ten years, I decided to follow that passion and completed a part-time primary education degree alongside my job. During my studies in Educational Science, I was introduced to the 70:20:10 learning model, an approach that shows that most learning happens on the job, a significant part comes from learning with and from others, and a smaller portion comes from formal training. As my interests developed, I naturally moved closer to the field of learning and development within Bronkhorst. A few years later, I was offered a role in Learning & Development, which turned out to be the perfect fit. The combination of my teaching background and my organizational and international experience allowed me to support, train and coach colleagues in their development. Bronkhorst truly encourages learning, exploration and personal growth. That environment gave me the opportunity to apply my knowledge, such as the 70:20:10 model, across the organization, helping to make learning an integral part of everyday work. It also enabled me to grow step by step into my current role as Learning & Performance Officer."

Projects and culture at Bronkhorst

"There are a few projects I’m particularly proud of. One is the introduction of the PCM communication model within the company. This tool helps colleagues observe behavior, recognize strengths and better understand both their own needs and those of others. By following the training, employees gain insight into their personal characteristics and those of their teammates, improving communication and making collaboration more effective and enjoyable. Seeing the impact of this across the entire organization makes my work especially rewarding.

Another project that stands out is the redesign of our onboarding program for the Operations departments. In the past, information was scattered across people, documents and different systems. Together with a small project team, we mapped all critical tasks, gathered the right information and introduced a buddy program. The result is a structured and consistent onboarding program that creates clear expectations, improves quality and helps new colleagues get up to speed faster. Building something that has such a direct and visible impact is exactly why I enjoy my work."

What makes Bronkhorst unique

"What makes Bronkhorst unique is its open culture. There is room for honest conversations, sharing ideas and experimenting. You are allowed to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them. This sense of psychological safety, combined with a down-to-earth mentality, creates a work environment where people can truly be themselves.

If you are considering joining Bronkhorst, my advice is simple: go for it. You will find an innovative environment where you are given trust, opportunities and the space to grow, whether you are just starting your career or already experienced. And yes, it’s true, you go to work with a smile and leave with one too.”
