Flow devices in solar production

Solar power ranks high among renewable energies, following wind and hydropower. Solar cell production involves several stages like cleaning, etching silicon wafers, and layer deposition using chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods or coating. In several processes flow devices come into play. Flow devices ensure accurate and reproducible supply of gases, vapors, and liquid in processes like as:

  • Adding layers on silicon wafers in traditional silicon-based solar cells
  • Creating thin layers for second-gen amorphous-silicon-based film cells on flexible substrates
  • Applying aluminum oxide protective and/or anti-reflective layers
