How Coriolis mass flow meters work
An actuator allows a small tube to vibrate at its natural frequency. Two sensors positioned along the tube measure the deflection of this vibrating tube over time. When gas or liquid flows through, the mass of the fluid causes an additional twist due to inertia. This twist, known as the phase shift, directly indicates the mass flow rate, with larger shifts correlating to higher flow rates.
In addition to measuring mass flow rate, Coriolis flow meters can also assess fluid density. The vibration frequency decreases with increasing fluid density, allowing simultaneous measurement of both parameters.
A Coriolis flow controller operates similarly but includes a control valve to adjust flow rates automatically, ensuring precise delivery for various industrial applications.
