Why is precise dosing relevant?
Without precise dosing, critical processes will not deliver the expected outcome. Think about dosing additives, coloring agents, flavoring, aromas or active ingredients into a process. In many processes in the chemical, food/beverage/pharma and analytical markets precise dosing is elementary. Dosing the right amount at the right time saves the environment, saves money and is a prerequisite for an efficient and effective controlled process with traceable results.
Correct dosing is important, but how exactly does precise dosing work?
FLUIFILL® - The easiest solution for batch dosing

During an auto-setup the instrument will learn and adapt to the process conditions. When ready, a user can easily operate the instrument:
- dose size
- allowed timeframe
- desired accuracy (optional)
Once configured, the instrument will automatically adjust to minor variations in process conditions. FLUIFILL® truly stands out as the simplest solution for batch-dosing.
How can precise dosing be achieved?
Dosing liquids into a process is done differently by different people. One can think of, for example, dispensing a quantity of liquid by means of a jug in a vessel with a mixer, by the use of a dosing pump into a bigger volume or a time/pressure dosing method into a main line. If the dosing of a liquid needs to be done precisely, automation and checks need to be applied, then measuring and controlling the quantity by using a flow meter with a closed loop control will give the guarantee that the dosed amount is indeed precise.
What is FLUIFILL®, the batch-dosing control feature?

Over the years, Bronkhorst has gained a lot of experience with low-flow dosing solutions. FLUIFILL makes dosing easy, suddenly. A flow instrument with the FLUIFILL feature and connected to a valve or pump is suited for any type of required dosing. In particular batch-dosing becomes stunningly easy.
FLUIFILL enables the user to configure just two parameters and let the flow meter figure out by itself what the correct settings need to be for the flow meter-controlled pump or valve to meet the required specification. Once set, the precise dosing can start!
Ask a low-flow specialist for a live demo at your premises to experience it yourself!
Bronkhorst FlowSuite is the supporting software for configuration of the setting. Additionally, several fieldbus communication options will support FLUIFILL.

Dosing with a pump
Other benefits are:
- Automatic adjustment to system and process conditions by use of FLUIFILL auto-setup
- Depending on batch size and filling time, FLUIFILL will select the required settings by itself
- Easy to use and user-friendly
- Status information available in instrument for dosing diagnosis
- Notification when batch/time/accuracy is out of range
- No need for calibration or characterization of pumps or valves
- Non-linearity of valves and pumps is eliminated
- Reduced downtime of systems
- Dosed quantities are precisely measured to ensure traceability
- No PLC needed for flow handling of batch control (HMI only)
- Less waste because of first-time-right batch-dosing
- Saving money because of high precision

For more advanced applications, Bronkhorst instruments equipped with FLUIFILL can be used to build a liquid dosing module using the flow meter with FLUIFILL to create a closed loop control for dosing e.g. additives aromas into a process.
Complete solution batch-dosing module with flow meter as batch controller:
- Pressure control and batch flow control
- Power supply and electronics
- Single or multiple dosing head (with dosing valve and nozzle)
Characteristics step by step (handled by FLUIFILL)
- The system of the customer supplies a defined signal that can be used to start the batch
- After delay time batch-dosing will be started (valve will be opened)
- When the batch is ready, dosing will be stopped (valve will be closed)
- Batch amount will be validated and stored (this must be done by the PLC or DCS, it is not done automatically)
- If batch out of range signal will indicate so and bottle can be rejected by the machine
Additionally, on request FLUIFILL is also available for fast batch-dosing.
CORI-FILL™ technology
The predecessor of FLUIFILL
CORI-FILL™ is a feature which is integrated in Bronkhorst Coriolis mass flow meters and controllers. This technology features an integrated batch counter function with functionality to directly control shut-off valves, proportional valves or (gear) pumps. It's an alternative to the more traditional gravimetric method or simply relying on the repeatability of pumps without measuring the true flow.
